In fact, 88% of all people in North America say they always remember someone with an especially attractive smile. Not only that, 75% agree an unattractive smile can seriously hurt a person's chances for financial success. Perhaps that is why more than half the adults in America wish they could change their smile.
Women of today are very self conscious about how they look, how they dress and with whom they are seen. The "Baby Boomers" are very concerned about age and how it is affecting them. In fact, they are not the only ones as our senior citizens of 2009 cannot be compared to the seniors of 50 years ago. Today, most of our seniors look good, feel good, and are concerned about keeping their good looks and health. Women are no longer the "stay at home and raise your family" moms that our mothers were. Most of them are working full time and do not let age slow them down as shown by all the women working well into their 70's and staying very active in their communities. With all the advances in modern dentistry, age is no longer a deterrent as to what a smile says about a person.
We all know that as we age teeth begin to darken and dark teeth do not say "youth." If you are a big coffee, tea, red wine or cola drinker, or a smoker, your teeth may darken faster than a person who does not. However, there are many options that you can explore with your dentist that can change the color of your teeth.
The simplest option is to ask your dentist about whitening. Whitening trays can be made by your dentist and he will supply the best whitening system for you. There are many whitening systems that can be used but some work better than others. Your dentist will also see you on a regular basis while you are whitening so that he/she can work with you to avoid any potential problems that may occur during this process. Quite often you can see results from this process in only a few days and the process to whiten your upper and lower teeth will usually be completed in less than two weeks. Many people are so pleased with their results that they will not need any further services to meet their desired smile expectations.
Not all people can attain their desired smile results with whitening although whitening may be the first step. Not all teeth will respond to whitening efforts as well as a person may wish. The teeth may stay a little darker than is desired. However, all is not lost as dentists today have more procedures that can be used.
Many people are having their dentist put veneers on the front of their teeth. Veneers can be related to the "acrylic nails" that women are using to make their fingernails more attractive. The dentist will take a small amount of enamel off the front of your teeth. A dental lab will then make very thin porcelain veneers that the dentist will attach to your natural tooth. No one will be able to tell that you have had anything done.
Sometimes, a veneer is not an option, but the dentist may be able to prepare the teeth and put porcelain crowns on to change your smile. Sometimes these crowns can also be used to straighten teeth that are showing small signs of being crooked. Thus you may be able to correct two problems at the same time.
Changing the color of our teeth is not the only step in making our smile say "youth." As we age our teeth will often shift and we notice that there is crowding. This can be corrected with orthodontic treatment and you are never too old to begin this process. Many people do not want to look in the mirror to see teeth that stick out or are too close together. Floss and food will often get caught between the teeth which may lead to an increased decay rate. Orthodontics can also correct bites that are off which may lead to headaches and TMJ problems.
It is best to have all of your teeth checked over so that you and your dentist can develop a plan that best suits your needs. Only your dentist can diagnose the best possible treatment that will give you the optimal smile for your health and your appearance.

Our digestive systems do an incredible job. However, today's modern world has exposed us to an alarming amount of toxins, from the air we breathe and the food we eat. Over time this starts to slow down and overburden the digestive system, causing a wide variety of health conditions.
There are three basic types of internal cleansing.
- Cleansing for parasites
- Cleansing specific organs
- Detoxifying the whole body
A healthy digestive system is one of the key factors for our health and development. The tissues, cells and organs in our bodies require nutrients every day to sustain and renew themselves. The only sources are the foods and supplements we eat and digest.
If digestion is good, vitamins and minerals and other nutrients can be fully utilized. If digestion is poor, even a healthy diet and supplements won't ensure health, energy and growth.
Cleansing and detoxification systems, digestive enzymes and probiotics, used together, can help us achieve digestive health, and can support the body in getting the vital nutrition it needs.
Enzymes are energized protein molecules and lifelike substances found in living cells, whether animal or vegetable. They turn the food we eat into energy and unlock that energy for use in the body. They can not all be seen because they are so microscopic, but their presence and strength can mean improved blood and immune system functioning. There are five major enzymes: metabolic, digestive, food, pancreatin and pepsin.
